Maternity Photo FAQ: What if I don’t like/fit in any of your maternity photoshoot dresses?

Maternity photoshoot dress from Sew Trendy Accessories

One of the perks to booking a maternity photoshoot with me is full access to my client closet. But it can be weird to not know what is in the client closet and how things will fit. I know this worry all too well. I felt it when I booked my own maternity photography when I was pregnant with my daughter. And that is one of the reasons I do all I can to assuage the worry. Here is how I make sure that you’ll be happy with my client closet no matter what.

My Client Closet Dresses Fit a Wide Range of Sizes and Body Types

I spend an enormous amount of time researching dresses. It’s pretty much an obsession of mine. It can be really hard to find dresses that fit all of my parameters. A client closet dress must be cohesive with my style of photography. It must be beautiful. And it must, must fit a variety of body types.

All of my dresses come from photoshoot dress designers for this very reason. Their dresses are designed to fit a wide variety of body types. Many of their dresses are even one size fits all. And the dresses that do have a size are very flexible. I buy most of my dresses as either one size fits all or Medium/Large. Medium/Large dresses fit every size from XS-L. Why such a broad spectrum? Because when you’re wearing a dress for a photoshoot, we can adjust the dress in ways that you can’t for everyday wear. The easiest way to adjust a dress is with clips up the back of the dress. I do always bring these clips with me. But I’ll be honest, I’ve never had to use them. And that’s because of the flexibility of these dresses.

Besides size, many moms-to-be worry about height. Either they are petite or they are very tall when they ask this question. This is also not a problem. My dresses are in fact all gowns. Gowns are meant to be much longer than full length. This means that very tall moms-to-be fit perfectly in the dresses. It also means that the little extra fabric on a petite woman will also not show.

My Client Closet isn’t a Secret

I’m happy to show my full client closet to any prospective client. I often show my full closet during a virtual chat for this very reason. You can also see a sampling on my Instagram profile (@saraherkesphoto) as well. It's only a sampling, purely because my client closet is constantly growing. When I get new dresses, it takes me time to get photos of them.

I have a Stock-the-Studio Program

If you book with me, but don’t like any of the dresses in my client closet, you can utilize my stock-the-studio program. It is a program where you choose a dress you want for your session. Then get it pre-approved by me. And then I gift you product credit in exchange for donating the dress to me. It is a great way to get the exact dress, in the exact size and color you want, but have it cost you nothing. If you’re interested in this program, we do need to start the discussion very early. Photoshoot dress designers often make dresses to order. So it can take 4-6 weeks to get a dress for your photoshoot.
