Family Photography FAQs
Booking Your Family Photography
-
The first step is to reach out via my contact page. I’ll see if I’m available and send you more information to review. If you’re interested in moving forward, we’ll have a virtual chat so that I can answer any questions you may have and see if we’re the right fit for each other.

The first step is reaching out. You can do so here. If you like what you learn, then we have a virtual chat to get to know each other a bit more and see if we’re the right fit for each other.
When you’ve booked, we’ll schedule a design meeting that occurs about a month before your session. During that meeting, we’ll figure out the location for your session, what you and everyone in your party will wear, and how to prepare for your session.
The next time we meet will be at your session, where we’ll have fun and get great images.
A couple weeks after your session, I’ll send you a slideshow of all the resulting images from your session. At that point you’ll decide what digital image collection you’d like to invest in. Then you’ll gain access to your online gallery and have time to download image files and purchase print products, if you choose to do so.
You can get more information about my process on the family experience page.

Since I help with choosing clothes, the location, and many other details that are often left to the client to determine on their own with other photographers, my process is a little longer than other photographers. We need to time to work together to plan these details and get them ready for the session. Therefore, I recommend booking your session no less than 1.5 months before the session.
When it comes to what season. That is completely up to you. Colorado is beautiful year-round.

There are a variety of differences between the three, with length of time, available styling services, and location being the big three differences. I am happy to discuss those differences more after you inquire to make sure we’re finding you the best fit. You can inquire here.

I start monitoring the weather five days before your session. If the forecast is predicting rain, snow, or severe weather, I reach out to you to see if you’d like to reschedule.
-
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being sick. Let me know no later than 12 hours before your session starts and I’ll let you know reschedule options at that point in time. And I’m fully vaccinated for COVID.

Availability of locations sometimes changes due to construction, prescribed burns, and other maintenance they do at these locations that may cause them to be unusable. At the time of writing this, the locations available for petite sessions are Sandstone Ranch in Longmont, Pearson Park in Fort Lupton, and Pella Crossing in Hygiene. Each of these will link to a blog post showing you the location.
-
You can find starting prices for my sessions here. You’ll receive a full, detailed pricing list before our virtual chat. And I am happy to answer any further questions you may have during our virtual chat.
-
Yes. All clients choose a digital image file collection, which includes high-resolution digital image files with a personal print release. You decide which collection you’d like after you see the images from your session.
-
Yes. I work with only professional level printers and offer a series of fine art prints, albums, and announcement cards.
These are available for purchase after you have purchased a digital image file collection.
Family Photography Styling

One of my gowns of course or something you own. I have a collection of gowns earmarked for your use at no additional charge for deluxe and petite sessions. We also have a design meeting to discuss the rest of the family’s outfits as well.

Besides in-home newborn sessions, all sessions take place outdoors. You can find some of my favorite locations highlighted in the following blog posts:

Yes! That is an absolutely, yes! I love it when we have fur babies participate. Two things to keep in mind though. First, is that we will be more limited on locations with fur babies. Second, it is best to bring a friend along to help with the fur baby in between photos and when they aren’t in them.
-
That is the exact reason we have a design meeting a month before your session. During that meeting we will discuss what you and the rest in your party will wear to the session, what to bring to the session, and anything else you may need to know in order to prepare for your session.
-
Included in my deluxe session fee is a radius of 60 miles from my base in Frederick, CO. That includes Rocky Mountain National Park, all of Denver, Boulder, Broomfield, and Weld counties, most of Adams, Jefferson, and Arapahoe counties.
If you’d like a session outside of that radius, bring it up during your virtual chat and I’ll see if I can accommodate it.

Not all locations require permits. In fact, most of the locations I work at do not require them. If you do choose a location with a permit though, I take care of getting the permit for that location.
My studio covers permit fees for Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County, Jefferson County, and Boulder City. Most locations in Boulder County and Weld County do not require permits.
If you choose a location where the fees is not taken care of by my studio, I’ll take payment for the permit fee when you’ve settled on a location (usually during the design meeting) and I will take care of obtaining the permit.
