How Stock the Studio works

Want a different dress than what’s available in your closet or mine? I offer the Stock the Studio option with this scenario in mind. If you find, buy, and wear a new dress at one of your Sara Herkes Photo sessions from one of my preferred vendors and it fits with my client closet aesthetic and needs, I will “buy” that dress from you. In exchange for the dress, I will gift you a product credit up to the value of the dress to use towards your digital image file collection. Dresses must be pre-qualified for this option, so make sure to contact me before purchasing your dress. The process for this program is outlined at the bottom of this page.

FAQs

What if I want something from another vendor?

There are far more vendors out there than I can research. The above vendors have already been vetted by me. I have seen the quality of their dresses in person and know that they are a good investment and will show wonderfully in photographs. But there most likely are amazing vendors I haven’t had the pleasure of “meeting” yet. If you come across another vendor that you love, let me know about them. A dress you choose from them might fit into my client closet well and might qualify for the Stock the Studio program. With that said, I do veto any dresses sold by Amazon and I hope you do too. Not only are they far inferior in quality, they are also often designs stolen from the vendors above and sold using stolen photographs from my fellow maternity and newborn photographers. I feel strongly about supporting women and mom owned businesses, so I do that in any way I can. That does mean not supporting the stolen designs and photography. And that also means that I do not support Chicaboo Dresses, as that business does have questionable business practices as well.

What if I want something other than a dress?

This program applies to anything that can be part of my client closet, which includes, but is not limited to, clothes other than a dress, accessories, newborn wraps, props, and much more. Not all of these things can be found at the above vendors, so please feel free to shop around. Also, when we’re not talking about dresses, I will consider Amazon. A great vendor I do recommend in regards to props and accessories is Etsy.

What if I have something already in my closet that I am willing to gift to you?

I am not currently entertaining clothes, props, or accessories that were not bought brand new for your Sara Herkes Photo session for the Stock the Studio program. Although, of course, you can utilize anything from your closet in your own session. There are absolutely no rules that you have to utilize a client closet item or the Stock the Studio program for your own session.

What if I end up not fitting into or liking the dress?

When it comes to fitting into a dress, that usually isn’t a concern with these designers. The sizing is extremely flexible. If that does happen though, they do have exchange options that might be available. When it comes to not liking the dress in person, that isn’t too much of an issue. Although I do need a few photos of you in the dress in order to qualify for the Stock the Studio program, it can be just a few photos and then we can move on with your session with the amount of dresses typically available for a session plus this one dress that was part of Stock the Studio.

What if I don’t want to approve the model release?

In order to qualify for this program, a full model release of at least some images is required as part of the program. I am flexible on what is included in those images. I am happy to pose you in a way to not show your face and they can be images of just you and no family members. However, I do need at least some images in order to showcase the dress for other clients.
